In today’s episode, I try to take a more reasoned look at all of the emotional hand-wringing that’s taken place over the last couple of days. There are many avenues to discuss the Roe v. Wade subject, from a moral perspective to a religious one; or, an agnostic to a self-centered one. I doubt I would change any minds driving down those paths. Most have already made up their minds anyway. However, I did want to address whether or not this SCOTUS leak is a “Christmas present” to the Democrat party during the midterms. I’m sure the person who chose to leak the document feels it will help win elections and believes in his or her self-righteous delusion.
However, I go through some of the reasons the reversal of Roe v. Wade does little to nothing to change the political landscape. The people who are screaming for the right to kill their unwanted child can live in a blue state and keep voting for that ability. Those who want to protect life can live in a red state. Many already do, on both sides of the argument. States with more restrictive laws likely have less access to terminate an unborn child, whereas states with more liberal view have more access.
All the reversal of Roe v. Wade does is remove the invented language that never existed in the Constitution of the United States of America. This was never and should have never been a federal debate. It belongs in the states, where it’s been fought for the last 50 years.
What you are seeing is a lot of pandering, emotionally laden vitriol and screaming. The are acting out a line from Macbeth, “It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury.” But, their fury amounts to nothing. Isn’t it ironic that it’s the blue states, which already have a pro-abortion model, who are getting the violent protests. It’s always the blue states and/or blue cities where Leftists feel compelled to destroy things and hurt one another to win their argument.
And that’s really the issue, isn’t it? The Left is angry because they do not have good ideas. If they did, they could debate their merits. When they lack credible ideas, they have to resort to name calling, censorship, locking down the opposition or, as we are seeing now, violence. They are grown adults throwing temper tantrums, trying to get their way through histrionics rather than making a cogent argument.
Joe Biden tried this tactic, telling people the next step would be not allowing LGBTQ kids to be in the same schools with other children. That’s sophistry and ginning up emotional anger over nothing. We have existing federal law, which protects the individual. His fear-mongering cannot occur. The same for Senator Patty Murray whose “evidence” of radical infringement on liberty from the GOP are based on her saying, “Mark my words.” She is making up instances that cannot happen. They live in a dream-world of make believe and then lose their minds when their beliefs, hopes and dreams do not reflect reality.
Finally, I will be clear on my view that there are men and women and that’s it. The biology of how human beings perpetuate the species requires a female to create an egg and a male to fertilize it. The two halves of the species must come together to make a whole. That should not end with creation. If it takes both sides to create life, then it stand to reason it takes both sides to sustain that life. I say this because I want to get more fathers to understand their responsibilities. Many of our ills come from children who did not have both male and female influences in their lives. If we really want to discuss the value of human life, it should not stop solely at creation or incubation, but throughout his or her life.
