The Alan Sanders Show

May 29, 2023

Today is Memorial Day 2023. Most have the day off and for many, it marks the unofficial start of summer. However, this holiday, which affords so many a 3-day weekend, is not a happy one. Today’s holiday is one of the most somber ones we recognize every year on the last Monday of May.

As I usual do on this occasion, I spend the first half of the show talking about the evolution of this day, from the close of the Civil War in 1865, until becoming a nationally recognized holiday in 1971, today is a day we remember those who paid the ultimate price in the support of freedom and liberty for all. And that’s what we need to remember most – it’s about remembering why they were willing to sacrifice their very lives.

I intentionally kept the news-of-the-day out of today’s episode because I wanted it to be about the holiday and about freedom. To illustrate the point, I bring you a :90 second montage of several dozen nightly news casts from around the country. It demonstrates how the Legacy/mainstream media is no longer about the news or even a semblance of objectivity. They are a rip and read media, parroting whatever the state narrative of the day happens to be.

What we should also gleam from that sound bite is just how scared they are of individual thought and liberty. They do not want independent journalists to exist. They want people to conform to the identities of their group, making them more easily controlled. When we are thinking about those who died for freedom, ask yourself, are we really living as freely as our “leaders” want us to think? Are we really free? Or is there a ruling class that expects us to conform, to comply and to obey?
