Welcome to Season 5 of The Alan Sanders Show. It is such a pleasure to be back with you after the holiday break. We had a great time with our family and friends and hope you did as well.
For the season opener, I decided to ease into the new year with a little background about me and about how I came to be involved with radio and New Media. I think it is important for me to do that from time-to-time. Plus, we are technically still on a holiday break, given that New Year's Day is being officially recognized on Monday, January 2, 2023.
After going through some of my background and early experiences in politics, I do go into two subjects. First, I remind folks about the Inflation Reduction Act goes into effect today and along with it, billions of dollars of new taxes. Remember, politicians intentionally misname these bills so they seem to be the opposite of what they really are. The Inflation Reduction Act is not going to reduce inflation. It's a tax on all of us.
As of January 1, 2023, there will be a $6.5 billion dollar natural gas tax increase, a new $12 billion dollar crude oil tax and a $1.2 billon dollar coal tax. Plus, there is a new $74 billion dollar stock tax and a $225 billion dollar corporate income tax. All of those taxes are designed to quietly sneak into your wallet and steal your money.
You can expect household energy bills to rise and to see an increase in overall household costs. On top of that, if you have a 401(K), and IRA and/or a pension plan, you will be paying more taxes there as well. And, if you think corporations pay taxes, you are grossly misinformed. Whenever companies are hit with higher taxes, it simply means they will need to charge more for their goods and services to offset the increase. That means we will be paying those taxes when we are forced to pay higher prices.
Also, later this week, Elon Musk has promised us the next batch of Twitter Files, this time related specifically to Dr. Anthony Fauci. I'll be keeping an eye out for them. I am so happy to be back with you and look forward to another great year of talk.
