In today’s episode, I continue discussing some of the issues being raised about the previous sentencing of criminals by Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, specifically around child pornography. It seems she almost always reduces the recommended sentencing by a substantial amount. When asked why, she never has a good answer other than she has to balance multiple objectives, including guidelines set by Congress.
The strange part of her wanting to deflect to Congress is she still comes far below even the minimums for sentencing guidelines. So, beyond being unable to define what is a woman or explain her rational for such light sentencing, she seems driven more from a perspective of activism than being a strict constructionist. Senator Ted Cruz says he fears her job to uphold the Constitution, including many key elements of the Bill of Rights will not be the priority for her.
This does make me wonder why the White House has pushed this nominee so hard? Could there be a tie-in to the knowledge of child pornography on the Hunter Biden laptop? Is this a tactical move for a possible issue down the road with President Biden’s son? I have nothing to go on other than finding it interesting that Judge Jackson seems to have a soft spot for adult who peddle in child porn.
The second subject I jump to is some of the recent news from the CDC about how they “miscounted” the number of Covid deaths in the country, including over-counting pediatric deaths by nearly 25%! The agency said this was due to a coding algorithm issue that has since been resolved.
But, this revelation comes on the heels of a New York Times story where the CDC admitted it hid data for political reasons. Image that! A government entity who is tasked with being responsible for public health policy, choosing to follow politics versus the science. I said this before and it continues to remain true – when an entity is beholden to it’s political masters for both funding and power, they will always choose politics over science. Both of these CDC stories show how the country (and the world) was taken on one of the biggest rides all under the guise of Covid safety.
The reality is, an agency with 21,000+ employees, as Dr. Marty Makary said, still can’t tell us how many were healthy, if any, or how many had natural immunity? Plus, as another story reminds us, the CDC still can’t differentiate how many died because of Covid versus those simply with Covid. But, at least we now know they hid much of the data they collect for political reasons.
